My Love for Baking from the Beginning
By Kathy on Feb 16, 2016
The first time that I can remember baking, I baked a chocolate pie under my mother’s watchful eye. Everyone raved about how good it was. I was in high school at the time and never realized that baking would become a strong passion later in life. Throughout the years, I baked for different occasions and holidays. It wasn’t until after I met my husband that my love for baking became stronger. I started experimenting with mostly cheesecakes and became pretty darn good at it. So much so, that everyone always requested one of my cheesecakes at whatever get-together we were going to at the time. My cakes and cookies were good, too. But it was the cheesecakes that everyone wanted. When my daughter turned one year old, I did her birthday cake. It was a Teletubbies cake. I had never decorated a cake before but decided to try it with frosting tips. I drew it by hand on the cake and filled it in with frosting using a star tip. It turned out almost exactly like the picture I copied. I will try to find a picture of it and post it later. From then on, the passion grew. Shortly after my son was born, I was asked to bake over 25 cheesecakes for a charity auction. It was a great success for the auction. Later will come postings of how I started baking candies, cookies, breads and other sweet temptations!
